The usual problem my family encounters during Sundays is the quick and decisive move to choose which resto to stuff our tummies with. So we ended up somewhere in QC, in a street called Scout Gandhia (along Tomas Morato) and stumbled upon a place called Chef Bistro. I already heard much about this place due to my neighbor aunts who are constantly seeking Effin’ Good Food just to give them a break from their stressful work.
As you can see, prices aren’t that scary. Good for treating your special someone with a delightful dinner, and if the mood settles in, with wine maybe?
Ok, so here’s how we do it. We never start without a salad.
Fresh Fruits and Greens (P148.00)
As its name states, the fruits and greens were that fresh! And you could never go wrong with a great tasting vinaigrette to go with the greens. Not to0 sweet, not to0 sour, and just the right blend. This salad is absolutely refreshing.
(tower of) Pisa (P148.00)
Obviously, its a tower of shrimp, mushroom, gateau (rich cream) with Mozzarella as its roof. This was categorized as a starter dish. Well this definitely made my tummy start wanting more food in it. The flavorful ‘shrooms complements the fresh shrimp leaving you wanting for more. Definitely a must-order starter from Chef Bistro.
Cream of Mushroom Soup (P98.00)
The usual (all-time favorite of some) creamy mushroom soup with a hint of spices and herbs to bring out some aroma other than… the mushrooms’.
Sole Fillet (P248.00)
First bite into it, I was into it! Definitely an effin’ good Sole Fillet! It may remind some people of fish&co’s fish and chips but this ones a bit lighter in the tummy and easy to munch on. And don’t forget to have your veggies – with buttered veggies on the side. A classic dish sure to be loved by many.
Porkloin (P248.00)
I’m in love with the pasta (al dente at its best), the pork and its fragrant herb cream sauce. Effin’ good combination for this dish! Will surely come back to this place for this one!
Lambchop (P368.00)
The good thing about Chef Bistro is that they can cook effin’ good food. How can I say that? Well, Lambchops are one of the most challenging dishes to cook (according to a friend of mine who studies culinary arts). If these weren’t cooked right, it will definitely ruin your effin’ evening while you’re having a smelly piece of meat on your plate. Chef Bistro is definitely gonna make your dinner date special when you have their Lambchop, topped with black olives and leeks, with just the right amount to make the lansa disappear! Mashed potato on the side, on the other hand, was not that good. It has a powdery texture that will make you think its artificial. BTW, you can never go wrong with some Mint Jam for your Lambchops, so don’t be shy and tell the waiter you want some, coz their not servin it to you if you don’t tell ‘em you want it. (Maybe coz its a bit expensive, check out SÄNTIS Delicatessen for a price idea)
Chef Bistro’s Pinoy Pizza (P248.00)
Chef Bistro’s Pinoy Pizza
The concept of a Pinoy pizza was really innovative and also a brave move. The chef’s made a very bold move on mixing longganisa, kesong puti, and chopped to bits hardboiled eggs and garlic. Personally, the longganisa’s taste didn’t match well with the kesong puti, the two ingredient were like to overpowered flavors fighting each other inside my mouth. But, what the hell, you can try this at your own liking and tell me what you think.
Fisherman’s Pizza (P278.00)
Fisherman’s Pizza
Yes, this surely did float my boat. The Fisherman’s Pizza is a mix of everything you want to have in a seafood restaurant. Mussels, shrimp, clams, squid, anchovy and some green and black olives to wrap up the flavor. Perfect mix of seafood bits and enough cheese to give it a pizza flavor! Fresh seafood + crispy thin crust pizza + good chefs = happy customers! And I’m definitely one of em. At 278 bucks, its really wallet-friendly for its size and quality. Effin’ good food! Now for dessert, my favorite part!
Banana Loca
It’s basically a good mix of Nutella, banana, vanilla ice cream and orange liquor to make it a flambe crepe. It won’t make me go loca over it, but its not also bad.
Not much of a difference with the Banana Loca. It also has banana, hazelnut spread (Nutella!) and anglaise sauce (whatever that is). Their crepe has a nice texture and taste. But they got nothing on Cafe Breton’s crepes. Just my opinion! No hatin’ please!
effin’ rating:
FFFF
4 effin’ Fs for a great variety of dishes in their menu and are mostly effin’ good!, but lacks a bit of focus on what their specialty dish really is.

How’s the parking here?
Frankly speaking, the parking’s a pain in the ass. There’s no proper parking for the place except the front of the resto itself, which only fits one car.
